About the project: Deeann Rieves is an fine artist whose process is as gorgeous as her finished pieces. Her Instagram followers know and love the details that form to make a final piece—from machine stitching and selecting the perfect color thread, to pastel pencil marks, and torn paper glued and arranged on the paintings—and it was important that her new website celebrate that story too. Through graphics created to celebrate these special moments in her work, to a brushed texture behind her newsletter block, this website is full of artistic flair, and the brand elements draw directly from her work (and her handwriting is part of her logo too).

We began with an inspiration board with these goals in mind: 

Drawing from Deeann's textured and rich paintings as a primary source, this inspiration board derives a playful tension between warm and cool balanced with white space for a feel that is both whimsical and elegant that will appeal to a customer base of aspiring collectors and 30+ females. Because her customers are so drawn to her process, the design vision for this is intended to celebrate and elevate these unique details through highlighting evidence of the hand and Deeann's process, pairing texture with clean lines and simple forms to set off the organic feel of the paintings themselves. In the same way, typography will pair elegant handwriting or script font with contemporary typefaces. Clean lines are contrasted with more organic touches for a look that is simply beautiful. These touches will be subtle so that the artwork still takes the main stage.
