About the project: Having worked with a number of writers, I know how important it is to spend time actually reading their work, and finding a way to express or compliment it visually without being too literal. When Sequoia sought me out, he says ,

"I really wanted to work with someone who was familiar with the literary landscape, who worked with writers and ideal was a writer or editor themselves. In my mind, understanding the needs of a writer is half the battle. The other half is being able to visualize the weird visions writers have. Nikkita being both a writer/editor and a designer is able to bring a wonderful balance of these two elements in how she approaches projects."

I think my new site helps convey ongoing sensibilities in my creative work in a way that my old site didn’t. It’s on point without being too specific, which means I won’t outgrow the site for quite some time.

About the site design: Sequoia wanted a website that would fully immerse the viewer, relating to work he describes as "somber, yet curiously hopeful." The contrast of light and dark is heightened with bioluminescent colors for added curiosity and accent. An illustrative style was used with the background art to create an immersive and unique experience for the viewer/website visitor.

Keywords: Immersive, curious, fantastical, sense of wonder.

So many writers I admire (with beautiful sites) recommended Nikkita to me, so I was already inclined to say yes. After exploring her portfolio online I knew that this was the kind of collaborative relationship I wanted.
